Abstract
Details of the identification of Tl186 and its decay to Hg186 as investigated with an isotope separator are presented. Conversion electrons, γ, γ-γ, and e-γ studies establish two bands in Hg186; one built on a near-spherical ground state and one on a more strongly deformed shape with a band head at 522 keV. The levels are discussed in the framework of recent theoretical calculations. RADIOACTIVITY Tl186, Tlm186 from Ta181(O16,11n), E=145 MeV; W182(N14,10n), E=168 MeV; mass separated radioactivities. Measured T12, Eγ, Ece, Iγ, Ice, γγ coin, eγ coin, ICC, Hg186 deduced levels, I, π, multipolarities. © 1977 The American Physical Society.
