Abstract
An elastic neutron scattering study of the temperature-dependence of the ordered magnetic moment in EuB6 is presented. The decrease of the saturation magnetization of ∼7 μB with increasing temperature is shown to follow the Bloch T3/2-law, with no indication of a spin-gap behavior. The magnetic coupling constant deduced from the Bloch law fit corresponds to a mean-field ordering temperature of ∼12 K, close to the actually observed ordering temperature and the paramagnetic Curie-temperature deduced from high-temperature magnetic susceptibility. © 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
