Abstract
Observations of neutral-current [Formula presented] interactions on deuterium in the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory are reported. Using the neutral current (NC), elastic scattering, and charged current reactions and assuming the standard [Formula presented] shape, the [Formula presented] component of the [Formula presented] solar flux is [Formula presented] for a kinetic energy threshold of 5 MeV. The non- [Formula presented] component is [Formula presented], [Formula presented] greater than zero, providing strong evidence for solar [Formula presented] flavor transformation. The total flux measured with the NC reaction is [Formula presented], consistent with solar models. © 2002 The American Physical Society.
