Abstract

The Cr 3p excitation spectrum has been studied in the Cr(110) surface oxide using synchrotron radiation in the photon-energy range 40-75 eV. The photon-stimulated-desorption O+ yield from the surface is seen to be sensitive to the electronic configuration of the Cr 3p core-hole state. The results are discussed in the context of the competitive decay processes which also depend on the electronic configuration of the 3p core-hole state. © 1985 The American Physical Society.
