Abstract

The resonant enhancement of high-order harmonics generation was demonstrated in an alkali-metal atom driven by an intense and ultrafast mid-infrared (MIR) pulse. The calculations of the atomic response for MIR wavelengths close to three- or five-photon resonance between strongly coupled ground and excited states were also presented. It was found that all the harmonics are enhanced over a wide range of intensities and resonance width is governed by the lifetime of the multiphoton resonance.
