Orthogonal polynomial expansion for the Lowdin transformation
A set of linearly independent functions is orthogonalised by means of the Lowdin transformation (1956). A simple method is presented for calculating the orthogonalisation as a polynomial of finite degree in the overlap matrix S. The method is illustrated for various cases.
