The diversity of the curricula offered through the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (H&SS) will provide students with a foundational base of skills that can be used not only in the classroom, but in further study or a future career. Analytical reasoning, communication, and critical thinking skills will give students an edge in any profession they choose.

H&SS has excellent and committed teachers. Students will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with faculty through undergraduate research projects, study abroad programs, service-learning courses, and internships.

The College of Humanities & Social Sciences has the most diverse array of major options for students at LSU, providing educational opportunities in fields varied enough to ensure that no student will be at a loss for options. Faculty members teach core subjects required by every major, while providing opportunities to learn and conduct research in traditional and emerging disciplines.

Each year, students from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences receive recognition for their outstanding undergraduate accomplishments. In years past, students have been designated as Truman Scholars, Goldwater Scholars, members of the USA Today All USA College Academic Team, members of the LSU Tiger Twelve, and have received many other distinguished awards.
