Abstract

This paper discusses two algorithms for the complex rms value X1 of the fundamental harmonic of the nonsinusoidal quantities calculation which are much more computationally effective than the traditional FFT algorithms. They mitigate, moreover, the requirement regarding the sampling rate of the A/D converters as compared with the method suggested by Sawicki in [4]. One of these algorithms is based on the DFT direct calculation, the second applies the cyclic convolution. The paper shows also how to evaluate the aliasing error and the error caused by the lack of the sampling frequency synchronization with the frequency of the sampled quantity. © 1992 Springer-Verlag.
