The School provides electrical and computer engineering and computer science students with state-of-the-art labs, houses distinguished faculty, and is dedicated to equipping students with the attributes of the "LSU Engineer." As of July 1, 2012, the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is a newly aligned entity.

Electrical and/or computer engineering (ECE) at LSU applies fields of science and mathematics that relate to the sensing, communicating, and processing of information as well as the electrical, optical, and magnetic properties of the materials and the generation and transport of electrical energy. Among the many opportunities within the field of electrical engineering are careers involving computers, communications, automatic control, electronics, and electrical energy.

We in Computer Science are actively involved in research encompassing theoretical foundations, systems and architecture, databases and data analytics, software, computational science, and digital media. The research and professional activities of computer science faculty and students continue to be strong in extramural funding and publication, with opportunities for growth.
