We offer B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. At the undergraduate level, we feature six pathways to success: Public Discourse, Art and Culture, Professional Communication, Communication in Human Relationships, Visual and Mediated Communication, and “Create your Own.” Graduates find employment in fields such as communication coordination (e.g., social media, community outreach, employee relations), event planning, speechwriting, sales, and media design, production, and relations. At the graduate level, students emphasize interpersonal communication, performance studies, or rhetoric. As one of the oldest communication departments in the nation, we strive to advance knowledge and provide service to our discipline and community. Our culture is innovative, stimulating, friendly, and humane. The faculty are committed to employing a wide spectrum of perspectives that serve to inform and thereby improve habits and practices of communication so as to enable the advancement of culture.
