Abstract

The 10B and 11B nuclear quadrupole resonance spectra of decaborane[ 141(B10H14) have been obtained by a field cycling double-resonance method. The four inequivalent boron sites are distinguishable by NQR spectroscopy. The effect of 11B-1H dipolar coupling is analyzed for the first time. Analysis of the effect of 11B1H dipolar coupling on the 11B lineshape shows that all 11B quadrupole coupling constants are negative. The 11B nuclear quadrupole coupling constants fall in the range from 1000 to 2000 kHz. This work differs from an earlier report (A. Lötz, J. Olliges, and J. Voitlander, Chem. Phys. Lett. 93, 560 (1982)) in that some transitions are reassigned. © 1985.
