Abstract

A new natural ergopeptine alkaloid hydroxylated at C-8 of the lysergic acid moiety has been isolated from sclerotia of the field-growing parasitic fungus Claviceps purpurea. Its structure was established by spectroscopic and X-ray diffraction analyses.
