Abstract

The studies on the fluxes of dissolved metal forms through the water-bottom interface in Vistula Lagoon of the Baltic Sea were performed in August 2001 and 2002 using the direct technique of "chamber" experiments. The fluxes of dissolved oxygen, manganese, iron (II), total dissolved iron, copper, and lead were calculated. By means of optimized analytical procedures, the fluxes of dissolved iron, manganese, copper, and lead bound to the organic matter of seawater were studied for the first time. It was shown that the metal fluxes at the stations located closer to the coast are 2-4 times as great as those at the station in the center of the lagoon. © 2004 by MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica" (Russia).
