Abstract

Spanning two continents and four languages, this is a novel about star-crossed love in a time of globalization. It explores the bitter aftermath of colonialism, the trials of migration, and the (mis)understandings between people of different cultures and different native tongues. It attempts to measure the strength of the human spirit as two protagonists, Ronny and Salim, risk visiting the past in an effort to find solace in the future.
